4 Ways To Fix A Non-Working eSIM

Imagine you are on your trip abroad, and you know how this eSIM technology works, and after reaching your destination, you notice there is no network. How will you navigate, book your stay, or look for transportation? Feels like a disaster, right?

1. Check Your Data Plan

First thing first, check whether your device supports unlocked bands. This means it allows using an eSIM from a different carrier or a data plan provided by your current operator.

If your phone is unlocked or uses the same data plan from your usual provider, ensure the plan is activated and ready for use. 

To check your data plans, go to Settings > Mobile / Cellular Data.

For instance, you can buy an eSIM number online from any reliable provider like NumeroeSIM and can view the data plan directly from the app. This lets you monitor and manage your data usage easily.

2. Reboot Your Smartphone

For iOS

Ensure you are somewhere with strong coverage, and make sure your data roaming is switched on. 

To do this, go to Settings > Mobile/Cellular Data > Mobile/Cellular Data Options > Data Roaming.

If this doesn’t resolve the issue, try resetting your network by going to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone> Reset Network Settings.

Settings > System or General Management > Reset Options > Reset WiFi, mobile&Bluetooth or Reset Network Settings > Restart your Device.

3. Update Your Smatphone’s Software

If your smartphone is not up to date, it may cause eSIM compatibility issues. So, make sure your phone is running on the latest version of its operating system. This will enable a smooth and problem-free experience for the eSIM functionality.

To update your smartphone:

For iOS

Have a WiFi connection first, then go to Settings > General > Software Update > Install the latest version.

For Andriod 

Go to Settings > System > System Update > Select the pending update. 

4. Reset the Factory Configuration

This is usually the last step to follow. If there is no success, then try the factory reset option. With this step, all your data will be erased and returned to its original state. 

For iOS

Go to Configuration > General > Transfer or restore iPhone > Restabilize

For Andriod

Configuration> Systems > Additional Adjustments > Factory Reset.

Note: Remember to have all your data backed up before doing the factory reset option.
